As a water witch living in Folly Beach, South Carolina, I never expected my life to change when I stumbled upon a treasure map stuffed inside an old dive light at a garage sale from the Hurricane Hugo era of 1989. I also needed a distraction from my ex-boyfriend showing up out of the blue and deciding to stalk me, with the woman he left me for in tow.
Luckily, I had the perfect team to help me navigate the clues that led us from the Morris Island Lighthouse to Ben Sawyer Bridge and beyond – my boyfriend Finn, a muscular dolphin shifter with his historical knowledge Charleston, along with my roommates – Rebecca, a Chinese water dragon with excellent research skills, and Krish, a merman with more charm than sense sometimes. After days of searching through places like Folly Beach, the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, and the local islands around, we finally discovered a hidden underwater cave containing gold coins that had been concealed during Hugo's chaos.
Sometimes I still can't believe this is my life – solving magical mysteries along the South Carolina coast with my supernatural family. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
